Flow measurement with VORTEX technology
All SITEP water meters are equipped with this innovative measurement system
Eliminating mechanical parts it’s possible to drastically reduce the risk of breaking and parts damage.
VORTEX, measuring the water flow using a sensor with no mechanical parts, results more reliable, keeping an high standard in counting precision (1% edge of error).
Advantages:
- Minimal flow obstruction: low pressure drop
- High long-term stability and no maintenance requested
- Solid state flow sensor for water with no moving parts: no mechanical wear
- Rugged glass fibre reinforced plastic ensures highest strength and performance
- Completely encapsulated piezoceramic sensor to detect the vortices: protected against moisture and mechanical stress
- Temperature sensor integrated
- High interference resistance
- Wetted parts metal-free
How does it work
- BLUFF BODY
alternate vortices rotating in opposite directions are generated behind a bluff body immersed in a flow. - VORTEX STREET
the vortices detach from the edges of the bluff body and form a Kármán vortex street in the water stream. The distance between the single vortices is constant. - SENSOR
the frequency of the vortices flowing past a sensor depends on the flow rate and is proportional to the flow. - FREQUENCY SIGNAL
the sensor detects these vortices which are then converted to an electrical frequency signal. The recorded frequency is equivalent to the volume of water passing through the measurmente tube at that specific time.
Some of the advantages of this measuring principle:
- Minimal flow obstruction: low pressure drop
- High long-term stability and no maintenance requested
